    Bolivian poet and songwriter

    Matilde Casazola Mendoza (born February 19, , in Sucre, Bolivia[1]) is a Bolivian poet and songwriter who writes songs rooted in her country's musical traditions.[2] In , she was awarded the Order of the Condor of the Andes.[3]

    Life and work

    She is the daughter of Juan Casazola Ugarte and Tula Mendoza Loza; granddaughter of the author of “Macizo boliviano” Jaime Mendoza.

    At the age of eleven, she won the First Prize at the Children's Floreales Games in the city of Sucre. She studied music at the Normal School of Teachers, where the Spanish professor Pedro García Ripoll was one of her teachers.
