Alan van Sprang was born on June 19, 1971 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He was raised in Calgary alongside his two younger sisters. His father Emile Van Sprang was a rock musician, who played in 1960's rock band “Stampeders” along with Alan's uncle Ronnie King.
