She steps off the stage and closes in on the audience with a friendly smile, open and gracious, as if greeting guests at a yard party. "Hello, my name is Caris." She begins to ask a few of the people up front for their names.

She repeats the names, introducing herself to each. "Hello, how are you?" she says pleasantly. "Just in case I forget to say so
