SOSOBALA, who was a polygamist and philanthropist, died at the age of 69. He had more than 20 children from different women.

Yesterday his son Makhosi confirmed that since his father's death in September 2000, at least seven children have visited the family home in Nquthu, KwaZulu-Natal to claim Sosobala as their father.

Some are already adults and "it's difficult for the Mbatha family to know the truth since our father died many years ago", he said.

• Sosobala, who was mayor of Nquthu, became an inyanga at the tender age of 15.
• His patients included celebrities, politicians and even gangsters - from all races.

• Known as the "Flying Doctor", Sosobala owned two aircraft, which Makhosi said the family had to take back to the airlines he had bought them from after he died.
   
• He was a multi-millionaire and owned a string of businesses.
